Race 4
A Dash of Cani
12th July 2025 at 2:00 pm

The events will be held in Wingello State Forest, which is approximately 100km south of Campbelltown. The base for this event is approximately 4 km into the forest along Forest Rd from the entry at Railway Pde. It is a dirt road and accessible with a standard vehicle.

There is plenty of parking and camping available.

How to get there...

For our first time at this forest we decided to go easy and the long course will be 2 laps of the short course, making it a 7.5km race.

Middle Ridge Long course

Wingello Short Course

It's an approximately 3.75km course that starts and finishes close to the main camping area.

It's run on one of the dryland mushing trails, so it will be a wide forest dirt road. It's fairly flat with some minor rises. There maybe puddles and some washed out sections so please take caution.

What should I bring?

Dog - Well, we guess you could run without one, but it wouldn't be as fun.

A copy of your dogs Vaccination certificate or Titre test (unless previously supplied to the club)

Water - Enough for you and your dog

Canicross gear - Harness, bungee leash, belt (as per AFSS rules etc)

Poo bags - be responsible

A sense of fun and excitement (really easy as we'll be around happy dogs)

Other stuff

Please keep your dogs on leash at ALL times.

These are collaboration events with the two NSW dryland mushing clubs, NSW Siberian All Breed Club and The Siberian Husky Club of NSW.

We encourage everyone to stay around, preferably camp and enjoy the wheel classes race. You won't be disappointed. You will be welcomed to sit around campfires and talk all things dog and mushing with a great group of fellow dog lovers.

There will be lots of dogs around, tied out on stake-out lines etc.

Respect other humans and their dogs, and ask first before approaching as we may have reactive dogs attending that need a little space.

Please use the rubbish bags provided or take your rubbish home. We intend to leave no trace..... respect the forest.

This is an AFSS-sanctioned race, please make sure you are familiar with their rules.

Whilst this is classed as a race, the sport is about participation, comradery, you and your dog having fun, meeting new friends etc. If you see someone in trouble ask if they are OK and assist if required.

There are toilets on site, the campsite has a drop toilet and there will be portaloos to use as well.

Did we mention a sense of fun and excitement (really easy as we'll be around happy dogs)

We'll see you there, happy trails
